The Friendly Almshouses, originally established in 1802 as the Female Friendly Society is a Registered Charity, No. 209895, and a member of the Almshouse Association, whom you can visit via our "Links" page. The overall management is the responsibility of a Committee, all volunteers, who meet on site once a month. The Committee also holds meetings with the residents at regular intervals.

Our income is obtained from contributions from residents, interest on endowments, subscriptions and donations. We are always grateful for support and any contribution to our work would be welcome. The value of donations from taxpayers is increased by including a Gift Aid declaration form.
